Contrast Analyser

The Contrast Analyser is an application that can help you check the foreground and background color combinations of your web pages. Through this program, you can ensure your pages have good color visibility for people with visual impairments. The Contrast Analyser can also simulate certain visual impairments such as color blindness.

The Contrast Analyser uses the Contrast Ratio in checking if a web page has good color visibility. The Contrast Ratio is an algorithm recommended by the World Wide Web (W3) Consortium. This algorithm helps web developers determine if the foreground and background colors of a page can be properly read by people with visual impairments.

Using the Contrast Analyser

Under the Web Accessibility Toolbar, go to Color. You will find several options there, while they are all great tools, we will only work with some of them.

Select the Contrast Analyser. You will be able to select different colors and see on the sample text how the particular contrast you have selected will display.

On the Toolbar, under Color, you can also select "Juicy Studio Contrast Analyser", where you will find an option "Luminosity analysis". When you activate this option, it will perform a complete analysis of the current web page, and you will receive information on all elements of your page. You will find the current contrast ratio, and if it passes Level AA or Level AAA conformance. When you see Level AAA, it means that that particular page element passes both Level AA and Level AAA.
