Cinemas should not be exempt from disability access
In a move that has outraged the arts accessibility lobby, a consortium of cinema giants have applied to the Human Rights Commission for a two year exemption from the federal Disability Discrimination Act.
If successful - the Village Roadshow, Greater Union, Hoyts and Reading Cinemas will not be legally required to provide a regular service for customers with hearing or visual impairments.
