CancelBubble, Web Content That Matters
Just recently I have come across a web site, cancelBubble, which actually featured one of my articles. This site is for web designers and web developers. It is a combination of social bookmarking, reference library, etc. The main goal of the site is to inform web designers about all issues which matter today. The content is put together by the users. For a more thorough description, read how the owner, Matt Hickerson describes his site.
CancelBubble concentrates on accessibility in a very special and positive way. It does not claim to be a place for accessibility related information, rather, it incorporates accessibility into its content. Currently there are seven categories for users to post under. One of them is accessibility, and by now cancelBubble has a great accessibility resource collection. Also, the site is very accessible, easy to use and to navigate.
What I like about this site, is primarily its content. I went to it, because it has great information that I can use. I added some articles to it, because I like what Matt is doing, and I wanted to contribute my knowledge to it. I was impressed by it, because Matt put accessibility to where it belongs: into the midst of everything else. Often we can read about accessibility because a site lacks any of it, or because a site finally pays attention to it. On cancelBubble, it is there because it belongs there. Web designers need to know about it, hence the category for accessibility, and people with disabilities need to be able to use it, hence the accessible design.
Great work, Matt!
